Combustible Dust Video

As you are probably aware, OSHA is now in the process of putting together a comprehensive standard for companies to follow when combustible dusts are present. It is expected that this rule will come out this year. The CSB (Chemical Safety Board) is one of the organizations that is taking a major role in this process. They have available a very well done video titled "Combustible Dust: An Insidious Hazard". It is a rather long video (29 minutes actually)but it is quite good. I would encourage you to review it and have your employees view it as well. They strongly recommend the value of good general housekeeping because as you will clearly see in this video, the explosions were compounded greatly by the accumulation of dust in the building (on rafters, shelves and other flat surfaces). In fact, one of the areas that everyone expects OSHA to be reinforcing is the 1/32"inch maximum (thickness of a dime")buildup of dust. Companies can reduce the hazards by installing good dust collection systems. We can help you!! I encourage everyone to go to the website CSB.gov and go the the "Video Room" tab at the top. Page down (under "Most Viewed Videos")and find the video "Combustible Dust:An Insidious Hazard". Hopefully this education tool will be valuable for your customers. Best Regards, Les Oakley, President of OakleyAir Systems.
